About Us

As our Troop 204 philosophy, we believe in. . .

. . .Our goals and Ideals are to help develop strong moral character in our young men. To help train them to be moral and ethical leaders in our community, nation and our world. We strive to LIVE daily:

The Scout Oath:
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
And to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
Mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law:
A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly,
Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful,
Thrifty, Brave, Clean, Reverent.

. . .A Safe and Fun Environment.  We will tolerate NO cursing, vulgarities, hazing, bullying, fighting or any other unkind act. We want our boys to grow and have fun.

. . .A Family Environment.  We encourage parent participation at all levels whether it be as Youth Leaders, Committee Members or Merit Badge Counselors.  We have family-wide events several times a year.

 . . .Scout-Lead Approach.  The Adult Leaders’ priority is to primarily, ensure the safety of the boys, then provide guidance to encourage accountability to follow the ‘Patrol Method’ guidelines from the BSA.  Scouts form Patrols and operate as independent units; older Scouts are expected to guide younger Scouts. The Troop’s Senior Patrol Leader guides the Patrols.  The focus is on learning from and helping each other which teaches the boys skills, confidence and leadership.

. . .Financial Self-Sufficiency.  Almost all of our supplies and equipment are bought from within our Troop with the boys working hard to raise the money. Some of our fundraisers include selling Pop Corn, manning a food stand at Bartley Family Fun Day in Jackson, and bagging food at grocery stores.
